Job Responsibilities

  5. Perform basic medical procedures such as venipuncture, EKGs, injections, and wound care under the supervision of licensed healthcare providers.
  6. Prepare and administer medications as directed by physicians.
  7. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
  8. Assist with scheduling patient appointments, follow-up visits, and referrals.
  9. Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical equipment.
  10. Provide patient education on various health topics, including medication instructions, diet, and lifestyle modifications.
  11. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality policies.
  12. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and optimize clinic workflow.
  13. Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, verifying insurance coverage, and processing medical records requests.
  14. Participate in training sessions and continuing education programs to stay updated on medical procedures, regulations, and best practices.

Skills and Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a medical assistant training program preferred.
  2. Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is strongly preferred.
  3. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a medical assistant in a clinical setting.
  4. Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical office software.
  5. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and basic pharmacology.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  7. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  8. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Flexibility to adapt to changing patient needs and clinic priorities.
  10. CPR certification may be required.

Physical Requirements
