When my nephew was about to graduate in senior high proficiency, he and his classmates’ ardent dreams and aspirations to pursue medical doctors were smashingly devastated upon talking to their school’s guidance counselors. The guidance counselors vehemently informed them the students they would not be successful medical surgeons but rather on corporate field, they were not fit to be doctors but on an office setting. These group of honor students came from the clan and family of medical doctors. My apologies but these counselors are not educated in the academe to be just fortune tellers, but rather educated guidance counselors hired and meant ideally to genuinely guide students on career guidance. Wow, that was harsh and unbecoming for guidance counselors who ought to know their professional boundary between imposing what they want as counselor versus their duty as counselors to offer genuine personalized guidance. We ought to see the youth as the next generation and the future of the world. I wonder how many graduates from that school whose dreams and aspirations were wrenchingly shattered for the longish years the school was existing with that desolate inapt-unbecoming ethics of their school’s guidance counselors. I believe the aforementioned school and the counselors and admin need an overhaul Indepth trainings and development, how about you? How about you as parents would you still want your children to be enrolled with such school or in one where you can be assured they will be properly guided?

The guidance counselors‘ role in high school graduates’ college course selection goes beyond merely suggesting majors; they empower students to make informed decisions that align with their passions and career objectives. Their dedication, expertise, and personalized support significantly impact students’ ability to navigate the complex landscape of college options, fostering a seamless transition from high school to higher education.
